Al Soares has been with The Dog from Ipanema for over fifteen years. He has developed a very strong relation with the company that his friend Jarbas founded. Al is responsible for the supervision of all the preparation work that goes on with all Ipanema clients before they reach their stylists. All the washing, conditioning, blow drying is orchestrated by Al which for many years has been right hand of Jarbas.

Stronger than his love of dogs is Al's passion with Bonsai. He has studied under many masters and has a degree in the teaching of the care of azaleas bonsai (satzuki) by the Eldorado Bonsai School, under the guidance of Tatemori Gondo, from Osaka, Japan. Al has traveled to Japan to visit and study the art. He nurtures what is considered the largest collection of shohin bonsai in the US.
